The department will enhance research capacity through the following activities:
1. Hold academic conferences on a regular basis to foster academic exchange between university and government agencies.
2. Publish the academic journal “Security and Intelligence Studies” to enhance academic excellence.
3. Conduct research projects form government agencies and private organizations.
Academic research focus of the department will be:
1. Theory and practice regarding the collection, analysis, and utilization of national security intelligence and counterintelligence.
2. National security and public order, including the legal basis and authority of social security protection and security investigations.
3. The design, structure, and functions of national security systems in various countries.
4. National security intelligence organizations and their operations.
5. The laws, regulations, and enforcement regarding cross-strait interactions.
6. The collection, compilation, analysis, and application of Crime and Security Intelligence.
7. The conduct of special operations and the collection, analysis of intelligence regarding protective operations.
8. The PRC’s strategic actions toward Taiwan, and topics such as its ideology, politics, legal system, public security, People’s Armed Police, Taiwan-related strategies, cross-strait relations, negotiations, and foreign relations.
9. The trilateral security dynamics involving the United States, China, and Taiwan.
10. The legal framework and the oversight of national security intelligence.
